Sustainable EUC – Part 1: Where does your device actually come from?

When we look at buying a new device, generally the only cost we look at is the financial one.

But when that brand-new laptop hits our desk, do we ever stop to consider the environment cost? Do we ever ask where that device was manufactured or who built it, or where the components and raw materials came from?

Most of us don’t, dazzled as we are by the shiny aluminium, big screen and that oh-so-premium logo on the lid.

There is a cost though. A huge environment cost to every device we use. To better illustrate this, I created the below graphic so you can visualise the journey different parts of your laptop have been on.

Enjoy your device, but understand the cost!
